We chatted with Lead Planner & Designer, Shelby Vance to ask a few questions.

What inspires your design style?

“I’m inspired by any kind of art, and specifically the little details that often get overlooked. The way fabric drapes in fashion shows, organic patterns in nature, unexpected color combinations in paintings, etc. I love visuals that feel dynamic and interesting, and love to create asymmetry like this to make everything look effortless.”

What’s one part of planning that people underestimate the most?

“An underestimated part of the planning process is booking vendors. Most couples think that once you’ve booked a vendor, you can check that item off your list. But after the contracts are signed, there’s still an ongoing flow of communication, planning, and coordination all the way up to your wedding day. Details are always evolving, and the list of people who need those updates only gets longer as the process goes on. For example, you may have booked your florist, but they’ll still need to know how many arrangements for the ceremony versus the reception, how many tall or short arrangements, which ones need to be moved throughout the day – and then all of that may shift again as your guest count or table numbers change. And on and on it goes. That’s why wedding planning is so much more than booking vendors. Signing the contract is the easy part – it’s managing the details and making sure every moving piece connects seamlessly that makes all the difference!”

What upcoming trends are you loving?

“A simple change I’m loving right now is accents of silver! Gold has had its moment for a while, but we’re starting to see silver accents making their way into wedding designs and it feels so classy and timeless. Pairing silver with other trending colors is a beautiful way to add interest and keep a design feeling fresh. (Our latest post with chartreuse and silver is my absolute favorite pair right now!)”

We also caught up with Xander, Logistics Director & Assistant Planner.

What’s your favorite moment during a wedding?

“My favorite moments during weddings are the grand exits. When friends and family are all around celebrating the couple and congratulating them onto the next chapter of their lives.”

What’s one piece of advice you always give to couples starting to plan their wedding?

“One piece of advice I would give couples starting to plan their wedding is to always make a budget. List your priorities (most important vendors/elements for the wedding) and budget accordingly around those.”

Foundations is ready to plan your dream day. Hand over your stress and enjoy this season.
