Some love stories begin in the most unexpected places. For Kat and Alex, it took the right mutual friends, and a little bit of fate to bring them together. Though they both attended the University of Missouri (Mizzou), their paths didn’t cross until after graduation. It wasn’t until they were introduced through mutual friends that everything clicked and the rest, as they say, is history.

Today, we’re sharing a closer look at Kat and Alex’s beautiful journey, from their serendipitous meeting to a proposal in the gardens, and finally, to a wedding celebration filled with elegance, intention, and timeless beauty.

The Proposal:

Alex knew he wanted the proposal to be personal, meaningful, and a little bit magical – and he found the perfect setting at Newfields, a stunning art museum and garden space in Indianapolis. Surrounded by lush blooms and peaceful pathways, he chose a quiet corner of the gardens for the big moment.

Despite being in a typically busy space, the timing was perfect. The gardens were quiet, almost as if the world had paused just for them. Hidden nearby were their friends, ready to capture the moment on camera, preserving a memory that will last a lifetime.

Westwood asked Kat & Alex a few things about their love story.

How did you two meet?

”We met through mutual friends after college; we both went to Missou but somehow never crossed paths there!”

Once they finally met, it didn’t take long for the connection to grow. What began as a casual introduction quickly turned into something more meaningful, as they discovered a shared sense of humor, similar values, and a genuine comfort in each other’s presence.

A Love Built on the Little Things

One of the things that makes Kat and Alex’s relationship so special is how much joy they find in the simple, everyday moments. Whether they’re out on the town or staying in, they’ve created a life that feels full of love, laughter, and intention.

What does a fun date night look like for you two?

“A fun date night for us is either a night at home ordering pizza/watching sports or a show. Even an evening spent in Downtown Indy going to Del Frisco’s and a Fever Game!”
