Some love stories begin with perfect timing. Alyssa and Chris’s began in the middle of beautifully busy seasons. Introduced by a persistent and intuitive maid of honor at a birthday party at the iconic The Dugout Bar, their story unfolded between emergency department shifts and law school lectures. What started as a simple introduction in June 2021 quickly became something steady, joyful, and lasting.
She describes him as devoted. He calls her capable. Together? They call it home.
This October at Westwood Vowery & Estate, they’ll step into their next chapter — one built on laughter, loyalty, and never taking life too seriously.
How did you two meet?
Alyssa: We have Alexa (my maid of honor and best friend since 3rd grade) to thank for bringing us together. She works in the same industry as Chris and was convinced we needed to meet. At the time, I had just started working in the emergency department after finishing PA school, and Chris had just begun law school, so dating wasn’t exactly at the top of either of our priority lists. Luckily, our matchmaker was persistent and made sure we were both at her birthday party at the Dugout Bar in Fountain Square in June of 2021. She was right and somehow in the middle of two very busy seasons of life, we found each other.

What’s something you’ve learned about yourself because of this relationship?
Alyssa: To never take life too seriously

How would you describe Chris in 3 words?
Alyssa: Joyful, steady, devoted

If your relationship had a theme song what would it be?
Alyssa & Chris: My Boo by Usher & Alicia Keys

Who said I love you first – and how?
Chris: Alyssa said “I love you” first and, honestly, it fit our relationship perfectly. It was completely natural. Just a simple “I love you” in the middle of a normal conversation, not a big declaration or moment. It made it easy for me to say “yeah, I love you too” right back, like it was something we’d already been saying for years

How are you similar, and how are you totally different?
Chris: We’ve always admired each other’s work ethic. We’re both career-driven and goal-oriented, but we approach things a little differently. I’m more laid-back about how I get there, while she’s meticulous and detail-oriented in everything she does. Talk about the perfect combo..

How would you describe Alyssa in 3 words?
Chris: Generous, supportive, and capable.

If you had to describe your relationship in one word, what would it be?
Chris: Home.
