Before its official opening on April 25, 2026, Westwood Vowery & Estate was already quietly becoming a place where love stories begin.
On November 22, 2025 amid steel beams, gravel, and the promise of what was to come Westwood became the starting point of forever for Lexi and Tyler.
What stood then as a construction site transformed, if only for a moment, into something entirely magical. With the vision of Tyler and the thoughtful collaboration of Foundations Wedding Planning & Design alongside Bellagio Florals, an unforgettable surprise unfolded that would mark the beginning of their next chapter.
It is one of our greatest privileges to walk alongside our couples not only on their wedding day, but throughout the entirety of their story, from the first tour to final toast. And sometimes if we are lucky, the stories start even before that. Lexi and Tyler’s engagement is a beautiful reflection of what it means to begin at the very start.
The Vision
The idea for the proposal began when Tyler reached out to Foundations Wedding Planning & Design. He wanted to propose to Lexi during their venue tour of Westwood and wondered if such a surprise could truly be brought to life. The concept was especially meaningful because Lexi and Tyler already shared a connection to Westwood. They had attended the venue’s very first public event on August 2, 2025, when the property was still under construction. Reflecting on that day, Lexi shared, “Tyler and I have a photo together in this room from August 2025 in our hard hats. You can see the pure wonder and excitement in the photo. At the time, the room was comprised of just steel beams and gravel, yet we marveled all night over the possibility of walking that imaginary aisle.”

With that evening in mind, Tyler began working closely with the Foundations team to design a proposal that would feel like a natural extension of their story. Shelby Vance, Lead Planner, recalled how intentional Tyler was throughout the process, sharing, “When Tyler approached us, he was just so excited to start seeing this special moment come to life. He put so much thought and detail into the day and was very intentional about what Lexi would like the most. The original vision was something soft and romantic, just like their relationship.” Designing within an unfinished space presented its own challenges, but it also created an opportunity to transform the environment in a way that felt both creative and meaningful.
Shelby explained, “Since the big moment was happening in a construction site, we wanted to soften up the edges and create a design that balanced out the unfinished elements of the space. We used light and flowy draping throughout the room to give soft lines. By using multiple different set ups in the room, we were able to draw the eye away from the construction and used the candle lighting to pull the focus to the main event.”

Every detail was chosen with intention, from the way the light filtered through the space to the delicate textures layered throughout. She added, “Plus Tyler told us that blue was her favorite color, so we had to include that for her.” What emerged was a setting that felt warm, romantic, and entirely removed from the rawness of construction, a space transformed, if only for a moment, into something truly magical.
The Proposal
When November 22nd arrived, Lexi believed they were simply visiting the venue to see its progress. Looking back, she shared how genuine the surprise was, saying, “Our engagement was the greatest surprise and blessing of my life. Tyler did an absolutely incredible job buttoning up every detail to put together a fairytale moment for me.” She even came prepared for what she thought would be a casual tour, adding, “We laughed afterwards because I was set on bringing my little digital camera for our tour and was clearly not expecting professional photographers so wonderfully happy to capture our moment.” The realization of what was happening came gradually. “I truly didn’t know until Ty started taking my coat off and our favorite song, ‘Ordinary,’ started playing,” she said. “He swept the white curtain away to reveal the most breathtaking arrangement of flower petals, candles, hydrangeas, and a perfectly setting sun.”

For Lexi, it was overwhelming in the most beautiful way. “It was the greatest gift I’ve ever received,” she shared. Yet the surprises did not end there. Tyler had also arranged for their families to be present, turning the proposal into a shared celebration. “He coordinated my parents and brother to drive up from Columbus, Ohio, and his brother to fly in from Florida,” Lexi explained. “We ‘cheersed’ so many times, all of my loved ones celebrating our love.”

Engagement Celebrations
Since that evening, Lexi and Tyler have embraced their engagement season with intention, finding ways to celebrate both the big milestones and the smaller, meaningful moments in between. “We’ve loved getting creative by interweaving engagement milestones into other celebrations,” Lexi shared. For Tyler’s birthday, they were treated to an evening at Capri, where they sampled pastas they now hope to share with their wedding guests. “Capri was our first Valentine’s Day together, so coming full circle and having them cater our wedding feels meant to be,” she noted. For her own birthday, the celebration took on a different form, as she found the perfect dress for their upcoming engagement photos, something that felt both elegant and playful. “I needed something classy but also that I can run in so we can have fun during our shoot at the beach,” she said. Reflecting on this season as a whole, Lexi shared, “Everything about this season has been a blessing we count twice and an opportunity to show each other how much we love each other every day.”
The Ring
The ring itself carries its own meaning, representing not only Tyler’s thoughtfulness but also the depth of their connection. Lexi expressed how much the surprise meant to her, saying, “There are very few times in life you get the privilege of being completely surprised; it is so endearing when someone has taken the time to know you in a way that tells them exactly what you would love.” For her, the beauty of the ring is rooted in its intention. “I knew if Ty picked it, and it reminded him of us, that’s what makes it so eternally beautiful,” she shared. It has already become a cherished part of her everyday life, with friends playfully commenting on how brightly it shines. “My friends were sweet in saying they could see it sparkling across the field at the first Colts game I got to cheer in it,” she added.

Wedding Planning
As they look ahead to their wedding day, Lexi and Tyler are approaching the planning process with the same intentionality that defined their engagement. They have chosen to involve their loved ones in meaningful ways, creating a celebration that reflects not only their relationship, but the community that surrounds them. “We have such talented friends and family,” Lexi shared. “It’s been so special calling upon our loved ones and showcasing their talents during this unique chapter. From embroidery to decorating, makeup, music, and more, it’s been just so fun to reach out to friends eager to have a hand in bringing our day to life.” Even moments like dress shopping have been filled with joy and enthusiasm. “I was met with the grandest YES’s of all time when I sent out dress shopping invitations to the incredible women in my life,” she said. “And my Indianapolis Colts Cheer teammates are beyond excited to take on a dance floor with me unlike any before.” At the heart of it all is a desire for connection. “We are hopeful that our friends and family feel not just a part of our wedding day, but our entire journey as a couple,” she reflected.
Their wedding vision reflects a shared love for timeless elegance and warmth. “Our reception will be candle lit and timeless,” Lexi shared. “We love the elegance of black and white with deep green accents for a natural pop of color.” They also plan to incorporate personal storytelling elements into the evening, including the projection of engagement and nostalgic home videos onto soft draping, creating an immersive and meaningful experience for their guests from the moment they arrive.

A Place Woven Into Their Story
When asked which space at Westwood they are most excited to see completed, their answer was immediate: The Vowery. It is the space that has been woven into their story from the very beginning from their first photo together in hard hats to the place where Tyler asked Lexi to spend forever with him. What once existed as a vision has already become something deeply personal, holding both memory and meaning.
